Recently stumbled onto a debate regarding the perfect horse. What makes the perfect horse? or atleast a very good horse. I think that is very different depending on the individual you ask this question. For me this question is mostly about dressage horses, since this is where my interest lies. The classic elements for me is exterior (correctly put-together horse, which makes collection and dressage exercises easier for the horse) gaits (the horse moves with alot of air under it, and has a good motor in the back ;) ) and the right temperament (wants to work, but also has some spirit and fire within it).
I do think however that these things change depending on the person. Not the specific characteristics per say, but how people percieve them. I also think people value differently, what might make the perfect horse for me, doesnt mean it is the perfect horse for someone else. Or just because a horse made it to the top, it isnt a guarenteed thing that with another rider, it would have made it that far either. I think we see different things in different horses, and I personally think the most important thing is chosing the horse that is right for you. When you think your horse is the greatest thing in the world, I think it also helps you bring out the best in your horse. If you can dream it - you can do it! :)
And also just because:
