The perfect horse?

Recently stumbled onto a debate regarding the perfect horse. What makes the perfect horse? or atleast a very good horse. I think that is very different depending on the individual you ask this question. For me this question is mostly about dressage horses, since this is where my interest lies. The classic elements for me is exterior (correctly put-together horse, which makes collection and dressage exercises easier for the horse) gaits (the horse moves with alot of air under it, and has a good motor in the back ;) ) and the right temperament (wants to work, but also has some spirit and fire within it).

I do think however that these things change depending on the person. Not the specific characteristics per say, but how people percieve them. I also think people value differently, what might make the perfect horse for me, doesnt mean it is the perfect horse for someone else. Or just because a horse made it to the top, it isnt a guarenteed thing that with another rider, it would have made it that far either. I think we see different things in different horses, and I personally think the most important thing is chosing the horse that is right for you. When you think your horse is the greatest thing in the world, I think it also helps you bring out the best in your horse. If you can dream it - you can do it! :)

And also just because:

Spreading some positive dressage energies

I feel like I need to share some positive dressage videos after my latest blogposts. I want to point out, I love horses and riding (and almost everything it entails), but I do think we have a responsibility to treat horses correct, since we chose to use them for our own purpose (riding). I am in no way an angel, I have made plenty of mistakes myself, but one day I woke up, smelled the coffee and corrected my ways, because that is what we owe to our beloved horses. They arent just a tool used to achieve our goals, but deserve to be treated with respect and dignity.

I also want to point out that I absolutely love dressage, but I feel some of these methods used on elite levels (and below) are abusive and unfortunatly getting rewarded for it (people riding on elite levels KNOW better, and they should set the standard and be an example to follow, not make people frown and turn the other way). There has always been ugly riding present on all levels, from riding school to the top, but the world of riding, and especially dressage has taken a turn where it is no longer frowned upon using these ugly methods openly, and people using them are also getting rewarded with prizes and medals, and my animal-loving-heart bleeds because of it, and that is why I refuse to shut up about it, and why I write about it here on my blog.

So as I was saying, I feel I want to show some beautiful dressage, worth watching, worth respecting. So without further ado:

I love watching Uta Gräf riding, so beautiful and effortless. Amazing.

I also like this video with Carola Koppelmann. Not giving me the chills like the Uta video, but still this is what dressage should look like.

Lost my phone

Yesterday I lost my iphone on the way home from town. My boyfriend and I had been out celebrating our 4 year anniversary at a nice restaurant, and then when we got home I realised my phone was missing. It such an awful feeling, since I had so many things on that phone- pictures etc. I used it for so many things. And now its gone. What really bugs me is the ammount of money I spend on it, and now it feels like its just thrown out the window. Granted I had it for almost 2 years now, but still. It was in pretty good condition- well taken into account it had even survived falling into the toilet! ;) and a few scratches here and there, but still in good condition.

I feel like an idiot losing my phone like that. I usually take pretty good care of my things.

Well I guess I'll have to find myself a new phone.

A horses mouth is a sensitive thing.

If your fingers end up looking like this after riding, then how do you think it feels in the mouth of your horse?
